Below are 10 things I’ve learned being a Digital Marketer since 2008.

  • You’re always learning and experimenting

Things change fast and there’s always something new to learn. It’s important to stay up to date and regularly consume podcasts, books, news articles, etc. Even if it’s for 10 minutes a day, make sure to stay on top of any news and trends.

  • Network in person

Digital marketing absolutely works! But there’s nothing quite like meeting someone in person. Joining chambers and business networking groups is actually fun. I love learning about other peoples businesses, goals, struggles, etc.

  • Master multi-tasking

It’s crucial to streamline your system with procedures, calendars, and more. Structuring your daily process is key! Make sure to use a reliable project management tool to help you organize your calendar, tasks, communication with your team, and more.

  • Be passionate about numbers and showing your clients results

Track the increase in website traffic, leads, and monitor increased sales and revenue. Create monthly and annual reports to showcase growth, areas for opportunity, work completed, and plan moving forward.

  • Leverage Tools to Grow

Try new tools and see which works best for you. After years of testing, here are my tried and true digital marketing software programs I use almost daily:

Social Media: Later, Creator Studio, Planoly, or Hootsuite
    Content Marketing: Ahrefs or Answerthepublic.com
Keyword Research: UberSuggest, Google Keyword Tool
    Email Marketing: ConvertKit
    Content Management/Websites: WordPress
    SEO/Keyword Tracking: Advanced Web Ranking
    Communication: Slack
    Project Management: Asana

  • Pick a niche

Although I love hospitality and tourism clients, I offer services to businesses small and large in a variety of industries. I find it fun and challenging to continue to market all-size businesses and industries. My 4 main services are: Social Media, SEO, Digital Marketing Plans, & Training Workshops.

  • Use books for inspiration

Never stop reading! Even if it’s just for 10 minutes a day, do it.

Fun fact: I rarely ever watch TV.  I’d rather read a book.  It’s enlightening and relaxing. I love to learn new things.

    8. Connect with Other Experts in the Industry

Join networking groups. Join your local Chamber. Get involved and have fun! Connect with others who may serve your same audience. You may know someone who does video EXCEPTIONALLY well or a graphic designer that creates dynamite content. Tap into their skills and build a collaborative partnership.

    9. Master Editorial Calendars

I love to plan editorial calendars that include creative, targeted, SEO friendly content for my clients’ audiences. The content created is used in creative marketing campaigns with specific strategies and goals that are tracked.
